Controversy has erupted in the 2015 Big Fish of the Year contest as the potentially winning Walleye is stripped from the angler! Okay, there really isn't controversy. Here's the story.Last week Jon caught a walleye that would have been the new leader. The giant Lake Minnetonka walleye measured 28.5" and was his new personal best. However, Jon's photographer had an unsteady hand when taking the photo and the whole fish was not included in the per the rules. The rules state the fish needs to be on a ruler and the whole needs to be visible.
Jon graciously admitted the fish was a great catch but was not eligible for the contest. Although this was undoubtedly a frustrating incident, I appreciate his willingness to accept the rules. This is a great reminder to everyone to take careful photos and review them before releasing the fish.
